How to make a video

The videos you upload to the march need to be in digital format. You can use a digital camcorder, a digital photo camera or you camera phone to create them. After you’ve shot your video, you’ll have to copy it to your computer and from there upload it to our site.

How to edit a video

You’ll have to use video editing software to do this. The most popular are iMovie (for Mac OS) and Windows MovieMaker(for Windows.).

How to upload a video

We can only process videos in these formats: Quicktime .MOV, .3GP, .AVI and .MPG. Our upload file limit is 8 MBs, so resizing the movie to a small format (320x240 pixels, for instance) will make uploading it easier.

To upload your file just click on the ‘choose file’ on the upload page, you should be able to select the file on your computer. Click ‘OK’ on the window that appears and once the file name appears on the upload page click on the ‘join march’ button.

After uploading

It might take a while for the video to be processed and added to the march. Once that’s done we’ll send you an email with a url leading to The Big Ask march site and your video will be playing in the centre of the march. You can use that link to view the video again and to send it to your friends.

How to create an animation

Creating an animation is simple. Just select a marcher animation from the menu on the bottom right of the page (there are 6 thumbnails, each one represents a different marcher). After you’ve done that type your message on the placard the figure on the image is holding and click on the ‘join march’ button.
